seven months old

it is hard to believe how quickly time goes by. I do not have exact measurements for isaac this month because he did not have to see the doctor. he weighs 17 pounds, and he is 26 inches long. so it doesn't sound like he grew too much. still, he is "growing up" in other ways. for a few weeks now, he has been flirting with the idea of crawling...he has moved a little but not too much. he is MUCH more interested in standing up and walking (yes, already). he pulls up on everything from the couch to a toy to the back of my capris. he gets smarter each and every day. he truly is the joy of my life!!!!!

During a nap at Gammy and Papa's house yesterday...
...need I say more?

isaac likes to chew on everything, including my fingers. this is absolutely no big deal to me; i just end up getting slobber all over my arm. yesterday he chewed on my hand all day long (no worries, i wash and rinse well). tonight i was on the phone with my mom, and he is chewing away on my finger when, all of a sudden, ouch!!!! sometime today isaac's first tooth broke through. i can't really see it (partially because he won't let me), but i sure can feel it! he is growing up too fast:(((( but i am really excited to see that toothy grin!!!!

six months stats
isaac weighs 17 pounds, 2 ounces, and he is 26.25 inches long...a growing boy. dr says he is right on track, and he is betting that isaac may be his earliest walker yet. we will wait and see about that!

SIX MONTHS OLD
I WILL HAVE TO PUT ISAAC'S WEIGHT AND SUCH IN TOMORROW AFTER HIS DOCTOR'S VISIT. TIME PASSES SO QUICKLY! I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW BIG HE HAS GOTTEN, AND HE AMAZES ME DAILY BY WHAT HE LEARNS TO DO. RECENTLY, HE HAS LEARNED THAT WHEN HE CRIES I WILL COME TO HIM...SO HE DOES THIS EVEN WHEN HE DOESN'T NEED ANYTHING...JUST TO KEEP ME CLOSE! WHAT A SWEETIE!

DISCLAIMER: IN MANY PICS, ISAAC'S HAIR LOOKS CRAZY...MOST OF THE TIME, THIS IS DUE TO SHADOWING, AND HIS HAIR IS NOT SO BIG AND OUT THERE. HE DOES HAVE A LOT OF HAIR, BUT SOME PICS JUST LOOK WILD!
SLOBBER=PERMANENT ACCESSORY

HE SUCKS ON HIS LIPS...TOP, BOTTOM, IT DOESN'T MATTER!

Amazing Feats!
I am constantly amazed at what Isaac learns to do, and I hate that I am not usually in the room! I think he experiments in his crib. For example, several weeks ago I put him down on his tummy for a nap, and when I went to check on him he was on his back. Since then I HAVE had the opportunity to see him roll over (several times)! Last week, I put him down for a nap and went to take a shower. When I got out of the shower he was still crying, so I went to check on him. He was sitting up. He did it again tonight when I put him to bed, so I know it wasn't just a fluke...but I haven't actually SEEN him do it yet! It has taught me that I shouldn't freak out about being there for every single first because, apparently, he likes to perform them during naptime anyway:)

Isaac at the zoo
This trip to the zoo was the day before Isaac's 5 month birthday so they are a little out of order with my other posts. We went to the zoo with Daddy; Aunt Amber, Uncle Ed and Aubrianna; Uncle Jamie, Aunt Crystal, Christian, Carson, and Chloe; and Papa and Gammy. It was a beautiful day and lots of fun!

Isaac didn't notice many of the animals...but he LOVED the fish!He got bored so we had to pull out the toys!
A tired baby after a long day (and a tired Mama too)!
So handsome!

Some very cute pix

Everyone always says that Isaac is a happy baby, and for the most part he is!
And handsome too!
Except when he takes his first bite of green beans...not a great experience for his tastebuds!
Now THIS is my doll baby!

5 MONTHS OLD
At 5 months, Isaac weighed in at 16 pounds and 6 ounces! He is getting so big! Here are some pictures from his 5 month birthday!

He's never been a thumb-sucker, but the day before this he started kind of chewing on his thumb...I think he's doing it more for teething purposes than anything.

I HEARD ANGELS SINGING
We went to the Maumee fireworks last night, and Isaac was mesmerized. As we were walking home, he fell asleep in his stroller (around 10:30 pm). My family was over, and they left around midnight. I got Isaac up, changed his clothes and fed him (he stayed asleep the whole time). This morning he woke up for the first time at 9:22 am. I guess I will need to begin using my alarm clock again since he is no longer a reliable wake up call! I had about eight and a half hours of sleep in one stretch...and I heard the angels singing loud and clear!

God has a way of getting my attention

Sunday night David had left for work and Isaac was asleep. I found myself all alone with nothing to do...and being a new mom, that is rare! I began to pray, and in my confession to Jesus I realized that I had not passionately pursued my relationship with Him; it had not been my #1 priority. This just at the time that I need to be completely abandoned to Christ, not just for myself but also to teach my son how to love Him! I began to pour out my heart to God, and I began to realize that the other things I once had passion for had also diminished. And so I prayed...God, please don't let your calling on my life be over because I have chosen to be lackadaisical. Please ignite the passion for You in my heart and along with it, my passion to see others know You! Lord, open a door for me to reach others for you. Funny how God works sometimes. The very next day my dad called to tell me that our school's international missions trip in April would be to Kenya. I asked him how that had come about as we had previously been planning to go to Trinidad. The gentleman who is in charge of moving the school this summer (we have a new building) was driving a speaker from his church somewhere, and he felt like he needed to introduce him to my dad. He was a pastor from Kenya, and when he met my dad his spirit connected with my dad's spirit, and he asked him if he could come to headline a conference in April, along with my mom and me. Wow! Then, he shared that he was interested in eventually opening two orphanages and a Christian school...and he is interested in me helping with the school! I don't know what the future may hold as far as the school is concerned, but I do know that Jesus heard the cry of His child, and He was faithful to answer! Would you please keep David and me in your prayers concerning this situation? And know that God is faithful...even when we are not (even when I am not).

FIRST TASTE OF CEREAL
Isaac is a breast-fed baby, and I was not too excited to start him on cereal right when he turned four months. David, however, since Dr. Rasor first mentioned cereal, has been wanting to feed it to him. So as part of David's Father's Day gift, he was the first to feed Isaac cereal. While Issac had some difficulty with it, he obviously enjoyed the taste. And David was a proud daddy!

Aly's graduation party was that night...Isaac had a very long day...and isn't Aly beautiful?!?!

FOUR MONTHS OLD
I can't believe that my baby is growing up so fast. He is so interested in the world around him, and he loves to watch his cousins play...you can tell that he can't wait to be able to run around with them.

Carson is very interested in Isaac, and he loves to poke him...so cute!

I had to put this picture of Isaac in...such an expression!
